Day 8 – Kinlochleven to Fort William – 24 km

This is our final Highlands hike, starting with a steep climb out of Kinlochleven.

Good bye Blackwater hostel

Shortly after our first big climb we encountered a 200+ rider dirt bike race. Doug Bundy, thrilled to bits, took an action shot of every single rider.

Serenity was then restored to our descent to Fort William. After a walk through a forested area, Fort William became visible way below us and Ben Nevis directly in front of us.

Looking down into Fort William. It would take another 2 hours to reach it.

Good bye & Happy 40th Birthday to our friend Christian!
The new official end to the West Highland Way. The statue of the hiker with the sore feet.

This has been an absolutely amazing hike. We feel tired, proud and happy. We took the train back to Glasgow. It was a stunning 5 hour ride through the Highlands where we could see all we had just walked. Feeling truly blessed!
