Day 4 – Inverarnen to Tyndrum 19 km

Today’s walk was absolutely gorgeous. We started from our hotel ferry dock, back across Loch Lomond to rejoin the trail. Today’s hike will add the 3-4 kms we didn’t hike yesterday. Overall, by the way, we and other hikers are finding the kms given in guidebooks to be inaccurate by a solid bit. We are now routinely expecting to hike 2-3 kms longer than stated.

Good bye Ardlui

Having reached the top of Loch Lomond, we are now truly in the Highlands. These areas are vast and so unusual compared to any terrain we have ever seen. We follow the rivers Falloch & Fillan toward Tyndrum.

More & more gravel on the path from here on in. A bit harder on the feet.
Miles & miles of stone walls

After a bit of climbing we reach the St. Fillan’s priory & medieval burial mounds, as well as battlegrounds, where mythical swords are said to be buried.
