We headed out from Dom Zorka Jelincica in very strong winds. The path was as steep leaving as it was coming in. Eventually it led to the peak of the southern Bohinj mountain range, where it would run along the saddle, never more than about a foot wide.
Part way into the hike and after feeling unequipped to handle the terrain for the entire day (plus several to follow) we decided to change plans. We had been at higher altitudes in the past, but never on thin trails or narrow ridges where we had to scuttle on our bums sometimes and hang on to ridge walls to keep our balance. We really felt out of our depth on this trail. We were very exposed and moving slowly. With afternoon storms very likely in these parts we decided to descend. The descent was slow and demanding, but eventually we emerged from scree into steep forest paths. We descended for almost 4 hours. After a day of sheer terror we felt happy to be alive. Needless to say, this changed the itinerary entirely.

Up and across the right saddle

Ay yi yi yi… wise decision ladies… that looks exhilaratingly scary… glad you made it to your camp safely….
Looks like a fun trail…for a mountain goat. Good decision to make new plans.
Absolutely amazing, you can see clouds in the distance of some of the pictures revealing how high up you really were. Great pictures, and stay safe!
