Hiking Itineraries with Florence & Katja

We caught the earliest bus out of Ljubljana which got us to Cerkno at 1 pm. We have learned that, here, alpine thunder storms happen most afternoons.

We started in hot & sunny weather and arrived at our dom (hut) after slogging through a hail, thunder, and pouring rain. Unfortunately, in our haste to get the rain gear on in the downpour, protecting one phone got overlooked, and that was the end of our access to data. We later also discovered that none of the mountain huts have wifi.

Anyhow, our first hike up Porezen Mountain was a toughie but put the legs on notice. Our hut was rustic. No shower. Intermittent power supply. No wifi (for our other phone). We arrived soaked to the bone, but warmed up with a bowl of hearty meat soup and met very nice French mountaineers, who were hiking the entire Via Alpina. We went to bed at 8:30 and actually fell asleep!
